Guidelines for music lessons at Crossings:
A two month commitment is recommended.
WHY? To give yourself the chance to get to know the instrument you are beginning
to learn and to allow you and your instructor to get to know each other better,
and to understand learning styles and preferences.
No “trial” lessons will be given.
WHY? We simply can’t reserve a slot for one “trial” lesson,
and then leave that spot open for the rest of the month; it’s not fair
to the students that could have used the whole month for lessons. IF you have
questions about the instructors or their teaching styles, please contact Marie
at 507-732-7616.
You must have an instrument for lessons.
WHY? You can’t borrow the instructor’s to take home to practice!
So make sure you have an instrument available to you so that you can bring
to lessons and practice at home. If you are purchasing an instrument and have
some questions about what to buy, please ask Marie to get you in contact with
the instructor.
Individual lessons only, no group or couple lessons will be given.
WHY? This allows the instructor to give you one-on-one attention. We have
found in the past with group lessons everyone learns at a different rates,
which can make the same lesson boring for one student and too challenging
for the next!
Lessons at Crossings are canceled for the day if school in Zumbrota is canceled
or dismissed early due to weather.
WHY? This is for everyone’s safety. In this case everyone would be credited
one lesson to their account.
Payments are due at the last lesson of each month for the next month to the
Crossing staff.
WHY? If you pay at the end of the month it assures us that you plan on coming
back for more fun lessons next month!
Please notify Crossings as soon as possible if ending lessons permanently.
We appreciate a 30 day notice if ending lessons permanently.
WHY? This is common courtesy to your instructor and other students who can
fill your time slot.
Please notify Crossings as soon as possible if canceling a lesson
for that week. If a student misses a lesson due to illness for example, no
money is refunded for that lesson.
WHY? It is to difficult to keep track of who misses a lesson and how much
money is owed, after your monthly payment is made. Think of it this way, your
money is holding your spot assuring you will be able to come back the next
week for a great lesson!
If a student needs to miss a lesson due to a scheduled absence such
as a vacation, no payment for this lesson is due ONLY if notice is given to
Crossings 30 days prior to it.
WHY? If we are not notified in advance this absence is treated much like if
you were to miss for illness, and no money would be credited to you account.
If you need to switch times with other students due to a conflict
in schedule for one week, please contact that student on your own to see if
they are willing to switch. (The staff at the Crossings provides
students’ with a schedule of other students along with their phone numbers
just for this situation). If however there is miscommunication after
an agreement is made and two students show up at the same time, the student
originally scheduled for the time slot will get the lesson.
WHY? Only fair to give the student whom is originally scheduled the lesson,
and the instructor doesn’t want to get caught in the middle of he said
verses she said!
IF you would like to switch times permanently, please contact Marie
at Crossings to see what times are available.
WHY? That way we will know who is coming and will be prepared!
