Poet Artist Collaboration XV - Call for Poets and Artists!

A sample collaboration from last year's exhibit:

a linocut by Lori Biwer-Stewart

"My Brother's Death"
poem by Chuka Susan Chesney

He is like a broken clock that is still ticking.

He is a moon that stares faceless
out into the darkness,
and the night after he died, I felt
him whisper in my ear.

He called no one.
He is a magic trick
that is about to disappear
under the card table.

He is a puppet
whose strings are pulled
by the troubled branches
of dead, snarled trees.

I saw handprints
of the blood of wild mustangs
dancing down the hall
where he staggered and leaned
on his death march toward heaven.

Entry deadline: Wed., Jan. 13, 2016. Visual Artwork delivery: Wed., March 21

Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rather than seen. ~Leonardo da Vinci

Poet/Artist Reception

Poets and artists are encouraged to attend the poet/artist reading and reception on Saturday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m. at Crossings. This special event will feature the poets reading and discussing their work, and the artists discussing how the poems inspired their art. The reading takes place at a vintage theatre next door and features the artwork displayed on a large screen. It is not only an opportunity for the poets and artists to meet each other, but an unforgettable evening of camaraderie for all those who love the arts!

As part of the exhibit, a full-color, glossy chapbook will be created, featuring each pair of poetry and artwork. This lovely keepsake will be made available at cost to all participants.
