Nuno Felted Scarf with Jill Lynn

Nuno Felted Scarf

Learn the glorious art of Nuno Feltmaking!

Wet-felting is an ancient technique. Wool, soap, water and agitation are used to make a non-woven, but sturdy material.

Nuno felting is the art of manipulating a small amount of wool fiber through a fairly open weave fabric. The result is a lightweight fabric with beautiful drape. A discussion of the effects of different fabrics when fused with wool will begin class. Students will then create a beautiful nuno felted scarf with merino wool and hand dyed silk.

Please bring to class:
1-2 quart container for water
1-2 old bath towels
All other supplies will be provided!

Instructor Jill Lynn has been teaching feltmaking workshops and classes since early 2008 and really enjoys sharing her process. In fact, the use of the process and a good deal of play are an important component to Jill's teaching. When you come to a class with her be prepared to learn as you go. You can obtain a great deal of control over what is happening under your hands while make a felted piece, but there are always surprises. So let's play.
