Handbuilding and Wine with Devon Gelhar

Come for a fun, relaxing evening that will introduce you to working with clay while you sip your favorite beverage! We will show you the basics of making cups or other containers and provide time for you to experiment with various shapes. If you create something you’d like to keep, we will fire and glaze it for you to pick up a few weeks later. So grab your BFF or co-worker and a beverage and enjoy a few hours getting your hands dirty.

This is an enjoyable evening and NO experience with ceramics is required. If you’ve ever been curious about creating in clay , this is your chance to try your hand at it while having fun with friends new and old. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover a new love! If so, we offer handbuilding classes throughout the year.

Devon Gelhar is a Bachelor of Fine Arts candidate in Studio Art, with an emphasis in Ceramics and Art History at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She will be attending Syracuse University in the fall of 2017 to continue her studies and pursue a Master of Fine Art degree in Ceramics.

Devon discovered and fell in love with ceramics in high school, and enjoyed it as a hobby for many years before deciding to go back to school to make it her career. She produces a range of functional ceramic wares, considering herself foremost to be a potter. She works primarily with Earthenware clay, enjoying the rich red clay and the bright color palate she can achieve on her pots. When not in the studio making, she likes to spend time outdoors rock climbing and exploring the natural areas around her.
